In September, Mr Mills took forty parents and pupils on Port Regis’ fourth annual pilgrimage to the battlefields of Arnhem in the Netherlands. He writes: “We are the only British school to make this journey each year and, under glorious sunshine, we walked, cycled, and listened to story after story—each one leaving us deeply moved, inspired, and humbled. A standout moment was meeting 100-year-old Geoff Roberts, one of just three surviving veterans of Arnhem. We scarcely needed to explain to the children what a poignant link this was to history. In the words of Maya Angelou, “We honour our ancestors when we tell their stories, for it is in remembering them that we understand the value of their sacrifices.”
